Germany hosted 4,066 athletes (328 women) from 49 nations (August 1-16). The Bulgarian delegation of 94 (only 23 athletes) traveled to Berlin with a special train. Best results achieved Lyuben Doychev (14th at the deca-thlon) and Hristo Malakchiev (10th at the Three day event equestrian).
Protecting the Olympic spirit IOC President Baillet-Latour had to fight for Nazi and anti-Jewish slogans to be taken down. Most medals went to Germany -89 (33 gold).
